Hansen Calls for Carbon Fee Rebated to Public
Rally Urges Climate Action
Climate scientist James Hansen called for a fee on carbon which would then be rebated to the public as a means of abating climate change.
Hansen said a gradually increasing price on carbon would reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere, a cause of global warming and climate change.
A "green check" from a rebate program would compensate household financially for the additional cost on energy under the program Hansen and others advocate.
Hansen addressed a 10-10-10 Rally of 350.org with other scientists and activists.
